Erick Acosta entered the home near 51st Street and Avenue E through an unlocked front door shortly before 8 a.m. The resident, a 55-year-old woman, was cleaning when Acosta entered. He left when she ordered him out and she called the police.

Acosta was stopped by responding police officers near the home. He appeared unsteady on his feet and kept reaching into his pockets until he pulled out a small vial of what was later determined to be the drug PCP,  police said. The woman, who positively identified Acosta, said he seemed incoherent when she had asked him what he was doing in her home.

Acosta was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and criminal trespass. He was being held at the Hudson County Jail.
